Rt Stop/turn inoperative when running lights on
I am having a problem with rt. turn/stop light not working on trailer when running lights are turned on but rt. tail light does work. If running and tail lights are off then everything works as it is supposed to. Left turn/stop and taillights always work properly whether tail/running lights are on or off. When rt. turn signal and or brake are energized in TV, voltage at TV connector for right turn/stop is at 12 volts positive whether the trailer is connected to TV or not and whether running lights are on or off so trailer harness controller is working as it should. When trailer tail/running lights are off, the voltage at the trailer turn/brake bulb socket is positive 12 volts and works properly however when running lights are turned on,the voltage at the trailer turn/stop light bulb socket is now negative 12 volts but the tailight section is at 12 volt positive and working so something is causing a polarity reversal at turn/stop socket terminal when taillights are on causing bulb not to energize. This only affects the right side, the left turn/stop is always positive 12 volts on both the taillight and turn/stop light and always work properly whether trailer tail/running lights are on or off. The bulb socket housing on rt. side is grounded because taillight is working and has continuity to frame when checked with ohm meter. All other grounds appear to be in order also. All lights on TV work properly.
Has anyone had a problem like this before and have a solution or any ideas of what is causing this problem? The voltages and grounds going into the trailer are good so I am assuming problem is with trailer but am running out of things to troubleshoot.
Thanks ahead of time!
