See Thru Curtains?

Has anyone else noticed that the curtains in your Rockwood Aframe are almost "see-thru"? Especially at night time when you have an inside light on. Sure, someone would need to be standing close to the camper.. and looking.. but you can see through those curtains! And if you just have a lamp on.. any movement inside casts a big shadow. Has anyone taken measures to help with the "night time" privacy of the camper? Anyone using some kind of blackout curtains or anything? How do you deal with the "see thru" situation?

So far... I just turn off all inside lights until I get into bed.. then turn on a table lamp.

Our old RV had Day/Night shades that were very opaque when in night mode, but this one has shades like you mention. I plan on installing roller blinds behind or in place of the current shades early next year.

When looking through them I can see the lights. But I've not been able to see any details more than that.

It may be just my way, but I don't worry about it too much.

we use Reflectix(link below at Lowe's),..... we've sized a piece for every window and slide them into place,..... they provide complete privacy, from the outside it's almost impossible to even know that there's a light on inside,..... we've used Reflectix on all three trailers we've owned,.....

Do you leave the reflectix in the window all the time? Do you attach to the curtain? How do you do it?

we only use the Reflectix at night or whenever we want privacy,.... if DW is going to nap, she'll pull the privacy curtain across the trailer and slide the Reflectix onto the two windows at that end of the trailer to darken that area,.... we have the pleated shades on our windows and never pull them down,....... at the top, we slide the Reflectix between the shade and the window and at the bottom, we rest it on the opening device(knob, lever, ect.) at the bottom of each window,...... also, we have removed all the decorative curtains on each side of each window, ....... to us, they're just for looks, and serve no purpose, so we removed them,.......... I even use Reflectix on our two outside doors by sliding it into the inside groove of the screen door, ..... nighttime privacy is what we want and we get it with the Reflectix, .......

I looked at Reflectix at Lowes yesterday after reading about it here on the forum. A roll of it (don't remember the size, but it was one of the smaller rolls.) it was very light. I'm thinking about lining the inside of my metal garage door with it. I'll be following this thread to see how you guys like it. It has a lot of good reviews.

I kinda wish I were young enough that someone might want to peek in my windows!! They peek in mine at night and see me --they most likely run off quick wishing they were blind !!

We generally only worry about the bedroom part of ours. When ready to go to bed we just slide the door shut between the front area & back area. Our bedroom windows have day & night shades on them.

I think a lot of folks responding do not have aframe campers. . I'm looking for ideas for an aframe. We have no blinds at all.. just the thin curtains.

I don't have an A frame, but I have had trailer with some weird windows. I've always used Reflectix type of material or even gone with cardboard in some instances. If you use the hook & loop fasteners, you can just cover the window and take it down when you want. I would store the covering under one of the seat cushions when not in use.

Not really an issue for me but it is an issue for my wife.
We use a candle driven lamp for those instances....and let it peter out during the night....top of the stove is used for this.
Not to say my silo wet is ugly....but it does keep the raccoons at bay.

Chuck9997 asked about how to put the reflectix pieces into place. If you have full-length screens, you can put them between the screens and the windows. You can also slide them behind the blinds. Since the reflectix is not heavy, it shouldn't fall out. Lastly, you can apply those 3-M Command Picture Hangers (looks like loop-to-loop velcro) onto them and just press them into place each time you want to use them. See below for an example of the hangers.

Command™ Large Picture Hanging Strips

By the way, these strips can be used for many things. We always keep a pack in the RV.

Everyone has a different comfort level but the curtains are pretty well translucent even when standing right outside at the window. The only way to see anything other than shadow it to look in a gap.

If you feel the need for greater security or black out I'm sure a lining could added.

Many A-Framers attach blackout curtains to the back of the original curtains. The sheers in mine add a very light layer behind the originals. I usually have stuff on the counter that obstruct a portion of the window, so I am not too concerned. I step outside my trailer now and then to see what can be seen, it would really take an effort.
