Started my Mods

This is fun. Started some of my mods to our new A192HW.
1. Got the battery disconnect done. 2. Added some cleats to the floor for the Potty. It just slides into place so not to slide around in the storage area and doesn't hit the door latch. Also, it does't interfere with the totes that just fit perfectly in the front of the storage area. The totes also fit thru the baggage door.
3. Added a 12V light in the under-bed trunk.
Next on my list is to add cleats to secure the BBQ on the shelf in the front trunk. I try to put items in the storage areas so they don't move about.

Hi Don
Curious as to where you located your battery disconnect. Can you post pictures?
Thanks,
Joe in NH

Hi NH man. Look for my thread 'Battery Disconnect' on the forum. I have pics there on pg 2. I got it at Princess Auto, a large chain here in Canada. They do have a web site. On my next ski trip to NH, I could bring you one. Of course that could be a long wait. Cheers.

Power Dolly Mod

Just finished a simple mod to power the dolly. I removed the handle and had a socket from a GM scissor jack. On my previous camper, I had installed scissor jacks sourced from the auto wreckers. Each jack had it's own handle, so made one suitable for a power drill. The socket slots needed to be filed a little wider to fit over the original bolt on the dolly. The original handle can still be used as the bolt has a nylon locking nut and only needs to be hand tight to use. I will keep an extra bolt/nut in my tool box. Hope the pics explain all. Really, REALLY happy with this mod.
Removing the bolt/nut adds another level of security for the honest person.

Well that was sure easier than what I went through. Coupling nut, drilling it out half half way . Drilling out the out a hole to put the bolt in.

Additional 120V Outlets

Here's how I added convenient outlets to my counter space. This is the location for our toaster, kettle, etc. The plug end has a built-in safety fuse. The only negative thing, you have to pull the plug when lifting the bed up. Not really a big deal. Cheers!

Dinette Table Support

With so many great ideas from all our members, it's hard to know when to stop.
Here's another one I picked up here. I liked the idea of locking the inside (front) table legs in the up position, allowing more room for a storage tote, or whatever. I have the option to raise the leg assembly and support the table end on the front wall. The table can still be moved side to side on this support. When travelling, the legs will be down, as well as attached to the wall. This will keep it from moving around in the camper. I really love this HW camper, as everything is accessible when in the down, closed position.

Replace that power strip with one with a 90˚ right angle plug and it can stay in when you lift the bed.

I've been keeping an eye out for one, but haven't come across it yet. The one I have with the safety fuse might be better for kettle and toaster. Still looking for one with a 90 degree, will use it with the dinette table.

I bought our surge protector / power strips at Staples Office Supply. They were around $25 each but I wanted a decent surge suppressor since the TV, as in TeleVision , plugs into one when we use it. The second unit is attached to the storage unit I added in the front of the trailer. I don't want my mini Keurig coffee maker getting zapped!

Between those two surge suppressors and the 30Amp Surge Guard protecting the entire trailer I should be fairly safe from most power issues...

Hi Don
My wife and I were sitting in the A192HW today testing the Kool Kat heat pump. It cooled the camper nicely but we also noted that no condensate water came out of anywhere. It was about 80 degrees F with 45% humidity. Shouldn't we have seen some water dripping from the 2 tubes outside the heat pump?
Also, there is a switch inside the camper just to the right of the heat pump. Do you know what it is for? It doesn't seem to do anything.
Thanks,
Joe in NH

That is the switch for your 12VDC water pump. When you are using the internal water tank it is what pressurizes the system...

As Wayne has said, the switch is for the water pump. Fill your on board water tank, turn the switch on and lift the faucet for running water. As I tested this out, it didn't matter how many times I lifted the handle--no water. Then accidentally I turn the faucet sideways, wow, running water.
I've had no water draining from the Cool Cat. If you remove the plywood cover on top of the Cool Cat, you will see it has a holding tray under it, holding water. I presume this will drain, depending on the volume of water contained in it. Don.

A Couple Small Ones

1. Added this shelf unit, the shelf is easily removed for travel. I used 3M automotive tape for the bracket, didn't want to put screws into the wall. After setting it up for the photo, stepped outside----crash, bang. It fell to the floor, I guess screws it will be.
2. Mounted an axe holder in the front trunk. Convenient and out of the way.

Sink Shelf

Here's another mod I made today. I remember seeing a post of someone adding a barrier beside the sink so the bedding didn't get wet. I thought a shelf would be more practical, adding space for a soap dish, towels or whatever. The shelf is a friction fit to the counter top and a little block on the wall to keep it level. Sleeping with one's head to the opposite end of the bed won't interfere with the shelf. It's easily removable when lifting the bed or when breaking camp. When I'm back from camping, this week, I'll give it a coat of paint. First outing with this camper, one day away.

Thanks Mickrock for the link. Here's the one I just ordered from Amazon. It's more the style I want to mount above the dinette table

What do you call the mounting bracket for the mug/wine glass shelf? Thinking I might like to add something like that to stabilize the dinette table. We rarely use the table but got caught in the rain a couple weeks ago so went inside for card games. Invariable we lean on the dinette table and tip it. Thinking that mount would provide just the stability we need if mounted in the proper position.

I found this in a google search, as I have noticed this also from room AC units... also I think 45% humidity is not very much and probably little water is created.

"In regard to condensate drain pans not draining well. This is not a new concept. Many window units have a ring around the outer circumferance of the condenser fan, which is technically called the "Slinger Ring). In normal operation the bottom edge of the fan passes through the condensate pan and picks up water which is the slung into the condenser coil. The evaporation of that water off the condenser coil actually increases the efficiency of the machine.
