Storage lid, a helpful 'hand'
Tired of using my head, a bungee or a stick to hold the lid open, this was put in place while out with El Beso last weekend.....a small but convenient 'add on' that makes accessing the area that much 'easier'

Nice mod. Sometimes it's the easy ones that are the most convenient.

Lippert now sells a 10 pound unit. It is for their trailer door hold open. The 20 pound one shipped with my trailer was destroying my door. So I guess more than one person complained.

Found:
Gas Spring 15" - 10Lbs.
or
Gas Spring 7.5" 10 Lbs
Gas Springs
$10 each. Will either of these work? or are they too short. I want the door to be held completely open so I can pull a large storage box out of the cubby...

Carla, it has little to do with length but positioning the anchor points & strength. I don't think either of the struts you listed are strong enough. I ended up with (2) 30# cylinders on my storage doors 19.7" extended 11.8" collapsed. I think you can get by with shorter cylinders, but you need 2 per door to prevent twisting or distorting the doors.

Update: A better helper
I really thought the storage arm was the answer to holding the storage bench door up. All the while, I opposed my DH suggestion for holding it up. How I wishes I'd listened. Haha After a few trips out, the arm was obviously putting too much stress on the thin wall and starting to pull away. DH disnt kmow I put it in & today I admitted to him and asked fos his help. (gulp)
He wasnt happy to see what I did & he let me know so. argh. Here is what his original solution was & I have to say, I am sorry I was so stubborn to accept his input. Dang, 23 yrs together & he can still be right about some things. Haha Anyway, here are a few pics to show it in action. (shoulda done this to begin with...sigh)

Oh how bitter crow can be. Hopefully the wall isn't damaged too much. Cary's idea is good too. Looks like the same latch that's on the back exterior storage door.

The wall isnt damaged, but I could see the pressure the strut put on the hinge...it was too much pressure & I could forsee it would eventually pull out with time or carelessness....so I showed Carey & that resulted in immediate removal and holder replacement. It is the same holder that holds the outside baggage doors - good eye, Deb! There is extremely minimal pressure on the wall now. I got the lecture of how thin the walls are....
