Well faire is been over three weeks and its time for the first post faire camping trip. Plan is a fishing weekend at Cooper Lake state park. To that end have been doing some work on LCW. Airing her out cleaning two months of dust and added a cargo box to the bike deck. Big enough to hold the grill and all the little odds and ends needed for the outside like the door mats, tent stakes for the EZ up, the outside stove rope, tape etc all the things you end up needing if you don't have and never use when you do. Weather should be good for night fishing and the days not to hot for a little hiking along the lake shore.

Cooper was a very nice park while it is new opening in 1996 none of the facilities have been up dated in since then and are very dated. Everything worked and was clean just old. The only down side to the park was that the gray water dump was so far from the camping area. LCoW was comfy the cool cat kept her at 75 which was great after coming in from hiking in upper 90 degree temps. The new load box was fine really nice having all the extra camping stuff handy like that. Fishing was so so hooked on large month bass but it was to hot for good fishing. Lots of wild life around from rabbits to white tail dear to snakes. The larger ez-up was nice supplied lots of shade for the late afternoon. Took the hammock which turned out to be a great idea.

Set up at Cooper Lake

First time towing with the F150 much easier than the Ranger,

Last trip turned out to be to Lake Ray Roberts Isle du Bois Unit. Great park just an hour north of the DFW area. We got lucky and found a spot just a couple of yards off the beach. Very nice little park with a paved scenic path of 2 miles, couldn't do much more in 105 heat. But the lake is very clean and the water very clear if very warm this time of the year. Our two lab mixes loved playing fetch in the water and the swim keep the heat at bay. Everything in LCOW worked great the cool cat keeping the camper a nice 75 for sleeping at night. Had a great view in the evening of the sun setting over the lake. Sad to say forgot the camera so no pictures.

Back home spent New Year Eve and New Year Day at Purtis Creek State Park. Had a great time. New Year Eve they had a big camp fire at the park center we rang in the new Year with four other couples also camping at the park, telling stories, comparing RV's talking about plans for which park to visit in 2014. New Year day did a 5 mile hike then cooked kielbasa on the grill with patotoes and sauerkraut. At night lite a big fire and sat watching the stars till 10 or so then played a few hands of dominoes. Great way to bring in the new Year. Purtis Creek is a nice little park a hour or so south and east of Dallas lots of trees, a nice little lake and really nice hiking the Park staff was very friendly and nice, the facilities were dated having not been up dated since the park opened in 1988 but were clean and everything worked. Understand the park gets real crowned the first weekend of the month as a lot of people from Canton first monday trade days camp there as the park is only 15-20 minutes from the flea market.

I am heading to Brazos Bend State Park tomorrow for a weekend of hiking, cycling and campfires. Our group will be about 16 and has three shelters reserved. Mine will be the shelter with the A-frame in front if anyone wants to stop by for a visit.

Johnson Branch Unit on Lake Ray Robert. Friday weather was very good around 80 mostly sunny. Picked up a new screen room really enjoyed in Friday night very nice for reading when it got to dark to hike. Sunday twenty degree cooler and cloudy very little sun. Still a good day for hiking did five miles on the primitive hiking trail. To cool for the screen room even with a heater so spend the night inside. LCoW very comfy and warm watch old movies on a small portable DVD player. Sunday still cool but sunny short hike along the lake before breaking camp and coming home. The park rest rooms and shower were clean and everything in good shape if pretty old. Park staff friendly and helpful even stopped by to check out the camper and see how things where. Hiking was great the primitive trail just rough enough to give a good work out. The improved trail great if you have movement limits or have kids in stroller. Great get away just an hour from DFW.

Only down side was after a couple hours water started running out of the fresh water tank. Appears the check value not working. Not a really big problem just turned off the water and used the tank the for the weekend. Not sure how to replace the check value might have to take it into the shop if I can' figure out were in the line the value is or if it appears to much work to replace me own self.
