Tire blowout

Well last year in Canada my tire blew out and destroyed my floor and fender and cabinet inside.... $3000. Glad it was covered with insurance.
But I got the thinking and came up with this so it won't blowout the floor behind the tire again.

Bent a piece of steel and bolted in on the cross frame.

Wow that sure did some damage. Nice mod that will help if it ever happens again, I may have to do that to mine, never know when a tire will blow.

I saw a mod where someone installed a fender that looked like a boat trailer fender over the tires and under the RV floor. I guess it would catch the blow out inside the fender.

that is the reason I invested in a TPMS, not that it will stop a blowout but I will know it and be able to stop before allot of damage happens

Not the investment I was eluding to, but a tpms helps.

attaching this over your RV tires make of steel.

Just a word of caution on reinforcing things to help with blowouts. You want to make sure the tire won't be able to reach beyond the reinforced area. If it can, it might rip the whole reinforced area out.

Don't underestimate the power of a rotating force. When a long piece of tire wraps around something it can yank the whole structure.

No way I could get something like that in my A frame wheelwell. My hand will not fit between the tire and well wall.

Just getting tire covers on is difficult.

I wanted to put metal up in the fender but there is not enough room. I also bought three new Carlisle HD tires that are now rated for maximum speed 81 mph. And yes this bracket is long enough that if it happens again the rubber won't reach the end.
The tire that blew out was code 1910 so it was 6 years old. I'll change them every two years now.
