Torsion axles
I notice FR is using the torsion type axles instead of the conventional leaf spring axles.
What is the life expectancy of these type of axles and has anyone had any problems with them?

I had torsions on my 05 flagstaff they were fine after 5 years when I traded it.

Airstream has used them for Over (50) years! Quiet,and Lots of Moving/Wearing Parts Eliminated!  Youroo!!

Torsion axles are generally considered an upgrade. They offer a smoother ride and there is little to go wrong. Another advantage is since the axle is bolted directly to the frame they act like cross beams to further strengthen the frame. Downside is they usually cost more. I've been happy with mine and have had no issues.

Really like my torsion axles !! I have them on my current 8 year old trailer without a problem, and also had them on my previous Trailmanor. Not looking forward to leaf sprung axles when going to t 5th wheel in the near future.
Several times when doing my spring water system sanitizing drive around (to swish the bleach around in the tank), I forgot and left my mouse snap traps in place, and most of those did not even spring during the ride.

They MFG Torsion Axles from "800# through Way above Needed RV capacity" they have T axles for any RV application! Youroo!!

Im trying to find a way to safely and easily raise the ride height of my torsion system. trying to get better ground clearance for some places I want to go and for the cargo rack I want to extend off the rear.

I'm wondering about maintenance on these,greasing etc? We picked ours up in November and I haven't been able to crawl around under it to really look at them. I've not read anything in the manuals on our unit about maintenance on the axles. I was a little skeptic about the torsion axles at first but with all the horror stories about leaf spring axles I think I'm better off. The TT did ride good on the trip home, but seems a little bouncy set up in the drive. (I don't have the X-chocks in though) Are these axles harder to stabilize? I had a '66 Volkswagen with torsion suspension that was bullet-proof, just hope these are as well!

Check the Lippert website, they have the lift kits and rear extensions (If recomended for your model)

Torsion axles on our 1997 Viking.......no problems. Just a bit of grease now and again and were working fine as of last year when we sold it.

If you Z-71 is 4WD it has Torsion Bars on the Front!  Youroo!!

I would bet you have Dexter axles and if you do and it is mounted by Rockwood using the side mounting option, one of these will get you 2 5/8" of height.

Just like spring axles, lube the hubs according to manufacturer's directions. They should last for years.
