Yes, Bikendan, thanks for the clarification. You are right on!

Around 16 MPG towing my T21QBHW with a 2014 Ford Expedition 5.4L V-8. The Expedition hardly noticed the trailer....

I just recently "down sized" to a 2015 Ford Explorer Limited with a standard 3.5L V-6 and haven't had a chance to tow with it yet. I suspect that little V-6 is going to get close to, or even lower MPG, when towing than the Expedition. But it gets almost 4MPG better when not towing and that is 90% of the time!

RedLdr1, I'll be interested to see what your mileage turns out to be with the Explorer. Sounds like the Expedition's mileage was similar to what I get with my F150. Like you, with my truck, I don't know the trailer is behind me.

I suspect I'll know the trailer is behind me now! Downsizing has forced me in to getting a WDH. Even with the OEM Tow Package my Tongue Weight of about 400 pounds requires a WDH. But what I really miss is the integrated brake controller in my Expedition. I just installed a Prodigy P3, and I like it, but I miss the clean look of the OEM controller...

Towing Mileage

Yes, after having had several vehicles, all of which had to have the braking control and wiring installed, it has been a real pleasure to have the F150 with all of that built into it. It sure makes it easier to set and use. It also feels to me like Ford is serious about equipping its trucks for the tasks for which people actually use them.

Towing Mileage

Yes, Cutter that is one school of thought. I've questioned Ford service dept people about this and don't seen to get a consistent answer. It depends on whether or not the transmission does a lot of shifting down and back up with hills. Whenever it's hilly, I never use Cruise but, when the road is relatively flat, the transmission doesn't shift much, if at all. I tolerate one downshift. More than that and it comes out of Cruise. What do others think?

Kdot,

You have a Tow / Haul mode that adjusts the transmission to compensate / correct for the up and down "hunting" shifting. I normally ran with Tow Haul and my cruise on and did not have any "hunting" problems in any type terrain...

The Owners Manual in my Expedition had a real good section on setting up the OEM brake controller to your trailer. Check the Towing Section in your manual. With my T21QBHW, which is a heavy A-Frame, I set the Gain at 5.0 as the starting point. That worked well for me...
