Towing with a Traverse

Does anyone tow their A-Frame with a Chevy Traverse? Thinking about retiring the Tahoe. We don't want a truck so we are thinking about a Traverse.

Best to consider all options,

Cherokee towing and off-roading

The Cherokee is rated to tow up to 4,500 pounds. Coupled with its off-road ability, that makes it the only Swiss Army knife in the crossover-SUV drawer.

Although, I am happy with my Grand Caravan, which does everything just fine.

This page says 5,200 lbs: 2017 Traverse: Mid-Size SUV Crossover | Chevrolet

It also says, "when properly equipped," so maybe there's a towing package that lets you do over that 2,000 lbs.

I pull my A122BH with a Pathfinder, which is car-based and very comfy to drive around with or without the camper. It pulls well!

Correct. Make sure you have the factory tow package if you go with a Traverse. Looking at one now for my mother's 3,500 lb trailer. Its a nice tow vehicle for smaller campers "when properly equipped." Just watch the tongue weight vs the payload of the vehicle.

Have to buy the right traverse. They have a "tow" package that ups the rating. I have friends that tow about a 22 foot ultra light with theirs. Don't know the weight, but I know they specifically bought a traverse with the right package and higher rating. Research before buying.

We tow a 2015 A122BH with our 2016 Traverse. The Traverse has the tow package and is rated for 5500 lbs. Tows like a charm. Never had a problem.

I have a 2014 AWD Traverse with the tow package, I have only towed my utility trailer, and my cargo trailer. There is no way I could pull my camper with it.
When towing my trailers I've never had any issues at all. Never felt any difference in it at all.
Good luck.

Did you ever tow it over mountains, like the Rockies or Sierras?

My sister has a Traverse and I can state that the Traverse would have had issues towing that trailer in real mountains.

I towed a Micro-lite 19RK about 4,000 lbs loaded with a 2016 Traverse awd with tow package and for the most part is towed very good. A little hesitation a some large mountain climbs. Only about 10 mpg. Its does have a longer wheelbase then Tahoe, never felt unsafe.
