Wall material ?

Hi to all. Just picked up our new A122S so time for some mods. I would like to mount the dinning table to the wall with
Interlocking channels ( like the grill mount ) and a folding leg. I have all that but my question is what is the wall material made of?
I assume it's foam core if some type. Does any one have any experience mounting anything to the wall as in what type of fastener did you use. I know I can put a bolt all the way through into the storage box on front but that seems like overkill. Any suggestions ?
Thanks

Congrats on your new purchase!

Sounds similar to the mod we plan to do later this summer. We bought the channel rails from Forest River last year but DH just not motivated to do this mod quite yet...

Please share photos of your completed project and any insights when it's all done!!

Im not sure about the A122S, but my front walls on the camper sound pretty hollow, if there is anything, watch for the torsion bars.

The front wall is very thin plywood. It is quire flexible and would in my estimation need significant reinforcement first.

The sandwich of the wall is something like one-sixteenth-inch plywood over foam. Through-bolting is probably the best way to go. Another alternative is hollow-wall bolts but I'm not sure the wood is sturdy enough for the load the table is likely to put on it, like when somebody's getting in and out of the seats.

I did the same thing you are wonting to do. There are wood studs in this wall, probably plywood. The middle one seams to be about 5-6” wide, the other 2 about 2” wide. You can pick them up with a battery operated stud finder. If you look at the first picture you can see that I mounted a peace of ¼” plywood to these 3 studs. You can see the 3 screws across the bottom of the plywood, there are 3 more just under that curtain thing. They go into 3 wall studs. Before mounting the plywood to the wall first I mounted the wall channel to it. The table is particle board so I mounted a 1x2 cut to length to mount the channel to, as seen in second photo. 3rd photo, finished product.

Hope this helps.

The is very nice OutAndAbout. I obviously underestimated the strength of the front wall.

Does that stay in the installed position during travel?

Tom, It can stay up during travel, It's low enough at this location to leave room for the walls to fold down. You can also see that I shortend it about a 3rd. Gave me more room to move around inside. I keep the peace that I cut of in the storage trunk if I ever need the bed.
Thanks for your complement.

Great minds think alike! Your setup is just what I had in mind, even shortening the table. Thanks for the info on studs etc, I know someone must have done the hard work first

Sorry, just one more question for out and about. Do you recall what length screws you used? Don't want to go too far through the wall.
Thanks

I think the wall is 1" thick, maybe a little more. The length would depend on the thickness of the plywood that you add to bridge between the studs. Can't remeber for sure what I used, 1" but no more than 1 1/4"
