Yes, but you STILL need 2 batteries.
Remember AH does not double with two 6volt batteries in series; just the voltage. AH does double with 2 - 12 volt batteries in parallel.

So 2 - 6V batteries above = 12 volts at 474RC minutes (197AH at 25A)
or 2 - 12V batteries above = 12 Volts at 360RC minutes (150 AH at 25A)

Check the difference in weight and cost of the bank as well.

I think you would be happy with either 6V or 12V.
As for mounting my dealer made a frame that sits above the old frame so the battery can still set long ways, and the Propane hose goes between the battery, I also found with the frame raised that the hose would go below the new frame.

Also the "M" stands for "Marine" which is a dual purpose battery and not a true deep cycle like the 6 volt you stated.

To get a true comparison a deep cycle 12 volt battery like a http://www.batteriesinaflash.com/dee...-for-marine-rv should be used.

2 of these would give you a true 200AH comparison.

1A Camper: : ) No, my head isn't spinning just yet. I'm pretty well read on this and went through the other discussions on portable heaters, small gens, Trojan batteries, 6V vs. 12V, etc…

We always planned on setting up a dual battery system and adding a solar charger so that's what we'll achieve, see if it falls short for our needs and adjust if necessary.

I agree, I bet we'll be fine with either 6V or dual 12V but that's where I see the gray area in this decision. I've decided on 12V for a couple of reasons I alluded to and now it's just deciding which ones. If I can find a couple of Trojan 27TMHs locally then it will be done.

Not sure how much vertical space you have above your battery mount; but Trojan makes some "tall" batteries that a pair of may fit in your existing mount.

Outside of the box thinking but also outside of my weight and cost limitations. That's a 100 pound battery. Take a look at the numbers on the 100 pound 6V offerings from Trojan to really see some impressive comparative data.

My current box and tray is a single group 24 form factor. The only 12V Trojan offers that will fit are those in that 24 form, which the next best thing to a single group 27 Trojan would be this one: http://www.batteriesinaflash.com/dee...-cycle-battery

I don't think I've found 120 pounds of battery to rival two sealed Trojan SCS200s.

Sadly, I haven't been able to find anything like it locally but can have them brought in by the Trojan dealer. Two of those in parallel is what I'm thinking for the near future unless something more compelling surfaces.

Off to buy a Mr Buddy heater and we'll be relying on this single Interstate HD-24DP for the 4 day weekend.
