Wheel/Tire Pads for BAL Leveler

Hello,

Does anyone know what type of wheel/tire pads these are or where to get them (see pics/attachments)? I saw them in another posting link on this site but the link does not allow anyway to get in touch with the person who posted the pics. I'm going to purchase a BAL Leverer and I like the way these pads seem to look and function vs. wood or plastic. has anyone seen these or do you think they were a DIY project cut from some rubber mat like material? The person who posted the pics mentioned that he cut them to size. They look pretty stout. I thought if they were some type of rubber material that you'd see some buckling or stress showing from the weight of the trailer, but don't see any signs of that in the pics.

Thanks,

Sorry I can't answer your question, but I wanted to mention that I don't use any sort of pad with my BAL leveler.

It works great without any pad, and I never even thought about using a pad!

Thanks for your reaspnse - I'd read in some postings that people sometimes had issues when using the BAL Leveler on softer ground (grass/dirt, etc.) so thought this might be a good idea. We just purchased our A128 and have yet to take it out so I'm VERY new to all of this.........

I personally haven't had issues on soft ground, but I've only camped on soft ground once so far. A rainy cow pasture, but the BAL worked great!

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to try a pad though!

Have fun with your new camper!

OzandUs made those. He is a skilled and compulsive modder that has a great deal more tolerance for getting things "just right" at the campground than I do. For instance, I only use boards under my tires when camping on soft sand, such at the beach, then I only use simple deck boards. He has gone to the dark side now so his later mods are less applicable to us.

And your guess on how they are made is correct. IIRC they are boards coated with truck bed liner paint and topped with upside down door mat material. They are sized to fit into the compartment in a stepper door of the discontinued Coleman branded Fleetwood PUPs.

Check out his Picasa site. There are a world of mods just waiting.

Looks like just one more step for set up that's not needed.

I have had a Bal settle into soft ground before. If it appears that it may, I adjust that side just a bit high to give it some room. If it does in fact settle, when striking the camper I raise the tire up enough to slip a small piece of board underneath to make the Bal easy to pull off after hitching up.

x2 with above two posts .. why a have a bal leveler if you have to back up and ensure your camper is on a plastic mat ... might as well just chock it with leveling blocks.

Never had a problem in sand, gravel, or wet soil. To date, we haven't used any type of base with the Bal Leveler. It sure makes leveling our 194HW quick and easy without repeated backing and going forward to add blocking.

Welcome to the forum, garfrd.

OzandUs, the maker of the pads says they are painted boards covered with rubber backed outdoor carpet, turned rubber side up.
