I agree that's to much trailer. Over to 24 feet is pushing it with the short wheel base. I would have thought the Jeep Wrangler would have higher tow rating.

I think the Liberty has a similar wheelbase to the 4 door wrangler (max tow of 3500/350). I've not looked at the liberty ratings but I feel safe in agreeing that 24' is will come in well above the mfg tow ratings in any case.

Only issue with the manufacturer tow rating... There is 2. North American and rest of the world. Just like most vehicles out there. But that is besides the point.

I do like those wranglers towing the aframes. That would look great on some trail somewhere.

I'm right there with ya choochoo. I'm doing a little more that the N.A. Tow rating on my 2 door wrangler 2000/200. With WDH and smart driving (and extra cooling for my auto trans) I'm totally comfy with my A126 and wrangler.

Mine rated at 5000 pounds. My trailer dry weight is 3000 pounds it hands it pretty well. Our long trips are normally 15 hours to the ocean or the mountains.
So I stay on the lower side on the weight.

I so look forward to a diesel option on the wrangler (from the factory) in North America.

This August 27 th. will be a 2 year anniversary of when a guy in an older Dodge Dakota pickup pulling a 5th. wheel trailer about the size in post #35 . I was stopped behind a car which was stopped at a red light. The light turned green and the car in front of me moved forward through the green light and then I proceeded to go through the green light also. Before I could get through the intersection the Dakota pulling the trailer could not stop because the trailer was way to big for the Dakota. He T-BONED me and it took the rescue team 45 minutes to get me out of my car then they got me stabilized while waiting for the helicopter to take me 60 miles to the largest and best hospital in Atlanta. I ended up there for 9 days and another 7 weeks in a nursing home to heal then another 5 weeks to learn to walk with a walker. Then it took about another 9 months to get rid of my cane. It has changed my life for ever. All because some guy thought he could pull a trailer he had no business pulling with such a small vehicle.

I had almost all the bones on my left side broken. One part of the bone below my knee still isn't completely healed yet. Thank God he didn't get my spine.

Thanks handbuilder. I can pull that trailer with my ATV on level ground, but that doesn't mean that I can stop it. People that max their weight are looking for eventually having a disaster. If they want to take a chance with their lives is one thing, but how about the other guy and your family.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune gt40 and glad you are just about 100% now. Sounds like whomever T boned you did not have any trailer brakes or at least they were sure not working.
