Winter trip to PA
Family business required a quick trip to PA decide to make it a camping trip. No problem towing the F150 did great even on the long up hill from WVa no drop in gas mileage. Never camped in below freezing temp before last night temp drop into the low teen but the AFrame toasty warm. Did get a little electric heater so as to save on propane. Heated mattress worked great so far all is working fine

Finding an open campground around Exton, PA prevented me from trying this. I really like sleeping in my own bed at night.

We have some state parks in Indiana that are open year round. No water at the sites, but they have heated shower houses. Not a lot of them but they do exist. Grandfather Campground near Boone, NC is like this too. Year round campgrounds can be found, just not one near me this week😥

There are a number of NC State Parks that are open year round. While some have electric you need to fill the fresh water tank from spigots spaced around the campground. Many also have heated wash/shower houses that are opened year round. One of the things we like living here is the ability to winter camp and be able to hike without all of the bugs and humidity. We've found an electric space heater will keep the trailer warm with nighttime temps down into the mid-20's but after that we need to supplement with the gas furnace. However with our trailer we don't de-winterize and just use water jugs since we have exposed plumbing along the exterior frame.

There is a KOA near New Stanton open year round near older but well kept. The camper was all ready winterized for our Texas winters get cold. We hooked to electricity but left the water off and are using bottled water. Between the electric heat the furnace and heated mattress no problem. Woke to snow this morning. Only problem is the window sweating need to get some insulation for the bubble Windows.

Many campgrounds in Gettysburg are open year round. Round Top campground even has full timers.

I have camped at that koa before. It is a pretty decent campground. It's probably about 20 miles from the town we live in

Great adventure! We have only winter camped once. Coming back from Florida last year we overnighted at a year round KOA in Corbin KY just after they had been hit by a big storm. Felt like a pioneer jumping over the snow bank to get to the heated shower house. Nice to know we can do it if we have to but I'll leave that kind of camping to the younger campers if possible.

Some advice for winter camping; make sure you leave at least one roof vent slightly open, you will loose some heat out of it, but it will help immensely in controlling condensation, which can be a big problem when outside temp. are below freezing, and the inside of the rig is 70+. In fact it is not a bad idea to have a vent cracked opened year around, it really helps in letting out moisture. This one little trick could add years to your rig, moisture from any kind of source, mold, and mildew are RV murderers!! Have fun, my Wife and I love spending time in our RV in every kind of weather :-)

I have a reservation for the Hot Spring AR KOA coming up soon. I'm mixed about getting snow. While it would be beautiful it would make hiking more difficult. Some of the group are planning on tent camping, brrrrr.

We actually set our rig up at Pinch Pond near Manheim Pa. just for winter, do not use water in the camper but makes for a nice weekend getaway.

I had it open a crack but must not have been enough with the wife and me and two labs. Got some insulation for the Windows and open the vent a little more will see how that works. Been real happy with how warm the camper has been and how well the heated mattress works

Wow that is really cold, sounds like you have things under control, stay warm, and remember by taking the path less traveled, part of the fun is figuring stuff out as you make your way along. This is a great way to share one’s experience’s and Macgyver jury rigs.

Glad you made it back safely and got out of Dodge before this weekend's winter storm hits.
