Working on sun screens for bubble windows

I have been trying to figure out how to make some outside sun screens for my bubble windows on the front of the aframe that would be 1)easy to store 2) easy on and off for me 3) not scratch bubble windows. So far I've test fitted one and I am liking the look and being able to keep it off the windows Click image for larger version

Is that attached with some kind of Command Strip fastener? Looks like a good idea, still lets some light in yet reflects the direct sunlight.

I used command light clips for outside use, once installed using a ladder I was able to push the covers into them on the top side from the ground and then easily from the ground push the covers into the bottom. It was 97 degrees here yesterday and in my driveway I get shade til about 10 a.m. after that I'm in direct sun til around 7 p.m. the shades worked great and allowed enough light inside the aframe without making it feel like I was inside a dungeon. LOL between the shades and other mods/improvements I've made I was able to get the inside temp down from 97 to 76 within an hour after which I was happy and stopped my test Click image for larger version

Looks good. I made some for the inside of our Forester to block the skylights.

Bought a sewing machine, learned how to use it, then made some similar using reflectix, heat material, then better looking material in the side that shows.

Used Velcro and command strips to hold in place.

You are correct that things like that make a huge difference in the comfort level inside.

The only thing I have found is the command strips don’t like the heat that well, at least the smaller ones I used initially. The glue did let go from the heat.

Need to use the upgraded command Velcro strips.

I put a strip of Velcro all the way around the shades I made to just need to change the piece in the skylight opening.

We should get together and start a cottage industry since it seems nobody makes things like we did [emoji3]

That's one thing I really like about these aframe campers, you can pretty well leave them factor or if your a little inclined you can customize and personalize fairy easily

When I first got my aframe I made some out of reflex for the inside for the side windows and bubble windows, I used Velcro brand outdoor white Velcro and put 3in small strips around the farmes, they haven't let go on over 2yrs of use, I think by not completely sealing them off it's allowed enough air to move around to prevent them from over heating and releasing

I have it just tucked in, doesn't quite go directly against the windows so I assume it's ok. I know it would be better on the outside but I have a high wall and it's not easy for me to reach the from the outside. My folding step stool (just two steps up) isn't high enough to reach much so I usually don't even have it with me, and I really don't want the added weight of an actual a-frame step ladder taking up space.

Why not put it on the inside? This looks vulnerable to wind and rain. Or do you plan to use them in the driveway only?
