2014 3850RL Streetside Slide

In the few short weeks we have owned our Trilogy, I have had the water system freeze up three times. We live full-time in the Trilogy in SW Oklahoma and will be leaving the area in June after I retire. Like many others, this winter has been unusual and presented many challenges, especially with the fresh water.

My dealer did a great job trying to get a handle on why the water was freezing up. As you can see in the picture, the underside of the slide now has a metal ring with rubber surrounding the aft push/pull actuator. The actuator had a couple of inches of open area around the rod and this allowed the North wind to blow into the camper and freeze me up.

Regardless of the number of holes placed in the forced air duct in the basement, heating the basement does not good with a hole allowing in unrestricted cold air. Plus the area where the heated air was being released was not sealed, therefore the heated air escaped immediately.

Anyway, so far so good after a couple of days of freezing weather.

We saw that big opening but didn't consider how it could be changed. I like what you and the dealer accomplished. Our next trip to our dealer we will show the photo of yours and ask them to do the same. We had wanted to add a heating tape in the area but were told it would harm the water lines.

Thanks for posting.
