The spring steel plate behind the pin on top of the pads is the anti-rattle devise for the pads. The pin was for pad retention. The curly-q pin kept in the pads. If this were my rig I would go to my local bolt supply and buy the hardest/strongest bolt that would fit or bore to next useable size and put a lock nut(not nylon) doubled and be happy. I think.
I think the wear on the pins would be based on rattling which I think caused the hardware to fail assuming the rattle stuff was there to start with. Rattle == wear.

Hi John, I don't remember whether you ordered the Moryde independent suspension with your trilogy or added it later. I opted for the Kodiak discs on mine when adding the suspension last year.

Back to the cotter pin discussion for a moment. The pin in question is a locking cotter pin or sometimes automatic locking pin not an anti rattle pin. The company I work for was having issues with standard hairpin cotters and switched to these. They work great in vibration environments. In the 5 yrs we have used them never seen a failure. I betting there was a installation issue like it was never installed in the first place or not pushed on far enough to lock on main pin. I would definitely replace them with the like.

I ordered the MOR/ryde IS and DISC Brakes when I ordered the camper from the factory. I didn't realize they were using Dexter Brakes (which I have). Had I of known, I would have ordered with the Kodiak.

I have received my new pads, anti-rattle springs, and retainer pins (threaded with nuts). Should be able to install them in the next few days. We are parked in Colorado so just waiting for nice weather and low wind speeds.

John

New pads installed on the front axle. The old pads (on passenger side) looked close to brand new. The brake kit came with new retainer bolts and nuts. They had already coated the threads with Loctite but I added more when I threaded on the nuts. Everything looks good, brakes are bled and we're ready to roll.

Off with the grandsons on a 2,000 mile adventure from Denver and ending up just NW of Chicago.

Thanks to all for their feedback, opinions and help!

John
