30 psi Regulator in line

I have a 2011 Sabre 31RETS and on the propane system, on the D/S(driver side) of the trailer. The propane system has a inline 30 psi regulator, OD/S(off driver sdie) where the switch over regulator is located, no regulator inline. Is this 30 psi regulator required or needed? The issue I am having is when we are using the D/S tank, the tank is making a sound, like it is surging, very noisy. I have switched the tanks from side to side and no matter what tank I have connect it makes that noisy sound, nearly sounds like a alarm. But you can feel the valve on the tank and that is where the noise is comeing from.

Any Thougts??

Thanks!

Question Propane ping

I have experienced that same sound . suspected the regulator , but realy not sure what is causing it. Ill be following this thread. I noticed this while we were all gathered round the fire one night when suddenly a pinging sound could be heard comming from my tt. It was comming from the tanks. Quite loud ,as we were sitting, 25 or 30 yrd's from my tt.

Ah yes. The pre-explosion ping warning system. You're lucky you made it out alive. (Just kidding.)

Is the 30# regulator after the change over (low pressure) or between the change over and the tank? I cannot figure out why you would need it unless there is an optional high pressure grill or something of that nature. A picture of the system if possible would be helpful.
Regards

Regulator is passing gas. LOL.

It the internal diaphram in the regulator making the sound, which happens at a certain flowrate. I have heard it in my BBQ on occasion depending on what burner is on.

"Regulator is passing gas" exactly regulators will sometimes hum (cause they dont know the words) When they are under load the diaphragm will sometimes just quiver like jello and the noise is the rapid air movement into and out of the regulator thru the vent. Make sure the vent is not blocked by critter nests. Also you can sometime loosen the adjustment cap and it will stop. if that doesnt stop it the setting can be tweaked or replace the regulator

30 psi regulator

Gasman6674

Will try to attach pictures of the gas system, one of the DS with the 30 psi regulator and one of the ODS with switch over valve.

Moose sorry for the late reply, been without internet. If the 30 psi regulator is inline with the inlet of the auto changeover its redundant. The auto changeover is equipped to handle tank pressure. The only exception would be if the driver side pigtail is really long then they (the mfg.) might have put it in to prevent re-condensing vapor into liquid.

The lenght is the full width of the TT. Thoughts on would it screw up anything if I removed the regulator?

Only issue would be re-condensing of the vapor back to liquid in the longer line. Make sure the line is higher than than the outlet of the tank then any liquid that might form will flow back to tank.
