ARGH! DSI Fault

Out dry camping in the middle of no where. All appliances (range, fridge) running fine on two newly filled bottles of propane. Water heater REFUSES to light. DSI fault over and over.

I have purged the lines more than adequately, changed the propane bottle, nothing seems to work.

I have verified that the gas tube in the water heater is clear, and it simply won't light. We heard it lite yesterday once, but wouldn't fire again.

This is a 2017 camper, and usually we are on electric, so pretty peaved off about this.

Any ideas on how to resolve? Tips or tricks?

It is pretty breezy out, but even when its calm, it won't light.

Yes.

I flipped it off waiting a minute and then flipped back on and it tried to light again. No joy.

Tried that like 20 times.

Is there some other lock out?

There is a reset on some of them, Its a black box usually on the outside behind the burner tube, There is a push button under the rubber that covers the box , that sometimes needs to be reset.

I bet it's a stupid board failure.

If it's a Suburban/Airexel they are having troubles. In a hurry?

if you have someone with you go outside and open the WH cover, have them start the WH.

Do you hear or smell any LP? Do you hear or see a spark? Does it light briefly?

Thanks all. Unforutnately no, I don't smell any propane, but that could be because of how breezy it is.

Yes, I tried both black reset switches behind the cover. I also turned off the electric switch in the water heater.

It is clicking through 3 cycles, and then locks out. No brief lighting, nothing.

To reiterate...Suburban(assuming) admitted to having a board problems. I sent my board back for analyzing...took 2 weeks+ to get back.

Mine would DSI fault as soon as I turned it on.

That is what I am having an issue with. As soon as I flip the switch, the DSI fault light is on. I thought that was normal and would go out after it lit.

Urgh. I have an appointment at a RV dealership in Rapid City between 8 and 9 tomorrow morning.

Alright. So we get this appointment in Rapid City, hook up the camper and head out to camp out in a cabellas.

Flip the switch, DSI light is on, but it fires right up first try.

The DSI fault light never goes out. Us it supposed to under normal operation?

Repair shop and Suburban tech couldn't figure out out.

They can get it to fire and bring the water up to temperature, but now it won't maintain.

DSI fault is always on.

Suburban agreed to replace the entire unit under warranty.

Bummer for this trip, but at least we have hot water.

I thought I would just follow up. After the trip, we found the problem.

I installed the paper towel dispenser above the sink using the holder and screws provided by forest river. Apparently, the wiring from the control panel runs through the panel just above the sink below the microwave.

My luck, my screw must have got into one of the wires faulting the DSI sensor. Backed the screw out, and works like a charm.

My luck. Now, how to fill the holes and find an alternative location for the paper towels.
