Auto Change Over

For some reason my propane auto change over will not change tanks when one empties. I have read the manual over and over, but it will not change. I have to take the full tank and move it to the empty side. What am I doing wrong? Help please, or is just a bad regulator? Thanks for any help on what to set or do..

Sounds like a bad regulator. It should change when supply tank pressure drops to 10 psi or below. If it doesnt then simplest fix is to change it.

Is it both directions? My change over only seems to automatically switch from passenger side to driver's side but has to be manual in the opposite direction.

Yes in both directions as long as you move the indicator handle which "resets" it and both tanks are open.

That's what I thought, I guess I will put that on my Goshen repair list to......Thanks

You are using the correct procedure - right ? Assuming that you are starting with two known-full tanks, start by SLOWLY opening one of the tank valves. (doesn't matter which one) then turn the indicator knob so that the arrow or indicator colored dot is pointing at that tank. Then SLOWLY open the valve of the other tank. The valves on both tanks must be completely open for the auto changeover valve to operate. The indicator in the center of the knob will show green and slowly change to orange or red as the propane in that tank is used up. When the color changes COMPLETELY from green to orange (or red) , that means that the auto changeover valve has switched to the back-up tank. Then switch the indicator knob arrow to point to the back-up tank , the indicator in center of the knob will change to green. Remove the original tank, get it re-filled and re-mounted and then SLOWLY open the valve. Then repeat this procedure as required. If your tanks do not change over properly after using this procedure, then you likely have a defective auto changeover valve.
