Electric works but not propane

Last trip the water heater worked only by electricity and not by propane. I could not hear the typical "clicking" of the igniter, nor could I smell propane. I have some thoughts but they didn't pan out. I'm wondering if it could be the board.

Suggestions?

X2 what 5picker said.

Are you getting 12 volts to the control board?

it's working now. What's different? When it wasn't working before, the red reset button on the interior panel was not lit. Despite that, I tried pushing the reset buttons on the water heater but it didn't fix the problem.

So I thought I'd try it one more time and this time the red reset button on the panel lit and the igniter started, I turned on the propane and it lit.

Thanks for trying to help but I still wonder what might have been the problem.

Is your propane gas detector turned on?
