Fried Propane Detector

My propane detector was the victim on a major flood (don't even ask!) and either it and /or the solenoid is cooked. Has anyone out there replaced one of these? It doesn't appear to be a big job...does anyone have precautionary advice..or recommendations on brand, etc.? Thanks!

Don't know who is the major manufacturer now for them but it used to be CCI. However they had such a problem with them failing prematurely that they finally went out of business in January of last year I think. I believe they are still available though. You can test the solenoid at the tank by disconnecting it and using a spare battery to apply 12V to it an listen for it to click over. It should be good, my money would be on the control itself (I assume that is what got "flooded") I don't believe you can just buy the controller either as I think they come as a kit with the solenoid. If you could it should be much cheaper to replace as the solenoids aren't cheap.

Yep....solenoid is good...but after talking to three RV parts suppliers here in town, the consensus was to remove the solenoid and install a new LP detector in the old hole...$50 vs $200...and no one even carries the automatic shut-offs in stock. One fellow said not very many were being put in new rigs? I will hang onto the solenoid and try to track down a relatively new CCI detector at a junk dealer! Thanks!
