Wanna bet it was not a "gentle" slam?

Lou - hard for me to believe that you would say this.

I know and believe that most others know that "slamming" anything to get it to work is not the way to fix any problem. Any problem that is corected by slamming or hitting is only going to repeat itself later on.

Seemed to work just fine with our old black and white TV when we were kids.
I once asked a TV repairman (remember them?) why hitting it worked and he said it "knocks off parasites on the picture tube."

Maybe that is why they are extinct...

I think the valve was stuck, and yes as long as it works, fine by me! Thanks for all the comments.

Actually Ron, hubby tells me he was joking about the fridge. He did however bang once or twice on the side of the furnace, then it began working. The place where the camper was purchased also advised doing this before we paid for a service call.

Awww you spoiled a great story. Banging does get hung up things unhung and stuck things unstuck. When my frig was acting up I followed the techs advise at dometic and by the time I pulled all the wires to test and then put them back I must have fixed the loose wire.

In the Marine Corps, we never referred to it as "banging". We always called it "technical tapping". LOL

As a couple of folks stated here you were given great info about the propane end of the issue, but as you state I do not think this is your issue, you need to understand all the safety parts built into anything propane these days, like the post before states if the blower dose not come and purge the firebox that (DI) direct ignition will try and fire the propane three times and at point closes the propane to the furnace so no propane can leak in. So you need to turn off all power to the furnace wait about two minutes before you try the cycle again, now I think you have tried that so now you need to check for a blown fuse or a chewed wire or in some bad cases the squire cage might be full of mouse debris. So good luck and happy camping

Furnance

Just posted a Attwood Furnance related problem...have no idea on what is going on..never happened before and do not know what to look for...also on a lighter note, the pull handle for my black water tank came off in my hand this morning when I went to dump....the rod is threaded, so I tried rethreading it back on the valve end, no lock...got it on enough to make then dump..tomorrow I am taking the bellow cover off the check it out..Screwed in a threaded bolt into the rod shaft, the threads are fine...affraid the bolt end coming out of the dump valve may be defective...will try to get thread tap on it that end...
