In suburban manual it will state that you have to draw air from the unit living area. My unit drew air from the basement only The GM from suburban made them enclose my furnace walls to draw only from the inside cabin and not the basement. It was my 8289WS that started them to put return airs in the steps. Call suburban, they will ask for pictures. Once they seen them they made the call it is a Federal Regulation. FR told me it was legal but I new better and went to Suburban. FR would not do anything til they made them. The GM told me that they had an inspector on site. I guess he was sleeping...... Now all 8289WS come with return air from the living area.

So, just out of curiosity i went looking at other Forestriver, Wildwood Heritage glen 366bh rigs, on line (dealership photos) and every one i have seen has the return air vent in the steps... Oh well, at least i should be warm and stink free for the rest of my trip.

Stinky Furnace

For what it's worth, we had a Crossroads Cruiser, and the furnace circuit board had to be replaced. As soon as it was replaced, we started getting an overwhelming smell every time the furnace ran. We put up with it for several months, trying everything we and the dealer would think of. Eventually the furnace was replaced under warranty, and the smell immediately disappeared. No one could explain it, but that was the only fix.
