Furnace without propane
Does anyone know if the furnace blower will continue to blow if it runs out of propane. It's a suburban furnace. Have read in other forums that it will while others say that it will not.
Thanks
Gary

Why not just try it?
I will go with those who say it shuts off.

As soon as the furnace cools off, it will automatically shut off. Usually takes about 2-3 minutes on ours.
I put a switch on it to run the blower while using an electric heater.

My last rig (a 2010 model) the fan would run after it ran out of propane. My new Cedar Creek shuts off when the propane runs out. I think they were both Suburbans.

I had a popup last year that the fan would continue to run once the propane ran out, but haven't tried it with my new TT.

Hmmmm OC, you raise an interesting point. We have a heat pump, fireplace and electric heater in the the bedroom. I think I will also install an override. (thermostatically controlled, of course)

Only use it for times like the last few nights that are below freezing and don't want to winterize, we run the EdenPure electric heater and the furnace blower. Got down to 19° last night and with the furnace blower going, the basement was at 40° when I checked at 7:30 this morning and the trailer was 60°.

No! once the propane runs out and the heat chamber cools down the fan will stop. there may be a way to hook it up to run the fan only, but I`ve never looked into it!

Once the blower is out where you can work on it, the bypass switch is an easy fix. Just run another 12v source thru the switch to the motor. The EdenPure works great.

Dodge Guy is correct. Once the propane runs out the fan will run for a minute or two to cool things off and then will shut down.

Some thermostats have a fan setting which will allow the fan to run without the furnace.

Do you mean the furnace fan will continue to run or the AC fan? The fan setting on most thermostats does not control the blower fan in the furnace.

The ac fan but it does not matter all he is wanting is to circulate the air from a space heater.

But the ac fan does not circulate air thru the floor ducts and the underbelly which is why I added the switch to the furnace fan.

Did you have to pull the furnace out, from the out side to get to fan wires to add bypass switch.

Had to remove the vent on the outside and pull the furnace out on the inside. The 2 problems are getting the vents off the outside and the other was the propane line inside. Yours may have an easier access to the line.

I wanted to do what you did so I can circulate heat to basement when using fireplace or electric heaters. Just wanted to know how much work it would be. Thanks Oldcoot
