Gas problems

I've had my Stealth lx 3112 for almost a year and keep having this annoying problem. From the first day after having filled both lp tanks I am very careful to turn gas valve slowly as to not to activate the safety shut off but once I turn on a major gas appliance the valve that normally reads green turns orange and nothing works. I have changed gas valve. Two days ago I filled both tanks followed the same procedure for turning on gas valves, have been running water heater for two days but this morning turned on heater worked for awhile then noticed cool air went to check gas valve and it was displaying orange. Switched back and for between valves and it seems to be working. Hate intermittent problems any ideas?

My dad had the same problem on his outdoor grill !! We've not had this problem on our trailer. I wonder if you could go to a place where they swap out cylinders (empty for full). Maybe a different tank would provide some relief . . Good Luck.

Does this just happen with 1 tank, or both tanks ?? The tanks have a flow limiting device in the valves. If that is faulty, that could be the problem.

I have swapped out tanks but I do think that I experience this more on one side than the other so maybe I should check line however if the line had poor flow that wouldn't seem to activate safety valve if that is the problem. Help

I am suspecting that because of the high flow (water heater), the flow limiting device is shutting off prematurely. The regulator would read that as an empty tank (turning the indicator red), but the the switching mechanism should switch the next tank if the switching valve is set correctly, leaving you with an uninterrupted gas flow.

The flow limiting device is actually a part of the screw-on part of each pigtail, explained about 1/2 way down this page:
