Hooking up camp chef stove to quick connect

I saw camp chef sells an 8 foot hose to hook to the camper quick connect. I would like to do this with mine but I would like a longer hose. My question is how long of a hose could be used? I would like to get one 15 to 20 foot. Would that be too long?

I've never seen one that long. Guess you could couple two together.

Just bought two of these to go from the middle of my trailer to my back bumper. I will post pics of my bumper mount when I get my unit from storage yard this weekend.

I carry an extra propane bottle for my portable stove. I did not want to cook too close to my rig or have a hose for people to trip over.

Anyone can use 3/8 brass coupler fitting and join as many hoses together as they wish. However some jurisdictions have codes that limit the length of flexible hose. Usually it is usually limited to about 3 to 4 feet.

I bought a 10 ft hose today at Lowes for $20. I plan to use it for a ventless heater that currently has two 4 foot hoses joined by a coupler. The flexible hose is necessary to snake around some furniture.

You just need to know if the length/size (ID) of the hose will carry the btu load at ?? pressure

How do you find that out?

Don't mean to thread jack but, this is along the same line. Where can I find an adapter (if one even exists) to go from the quick connect to a gas fryer hose end like you would connect to a 20lb propane bottle?

Most for the hoses available to the RV/Consumer market will be either 1/4" ID or 3/8" ID
with 3/8 being the most popular. Usually you can look in the end a figure it out. There are charts available to size them one location is http://www.regoproducts.com/lpg/lpg-...iterature.html Select serviceman's handbook L545. or Pm me and if I have time I can check it for you.

RickV Most deep fryers/turkey fryers are high pressure and you would need to connect between the cylinder and RV with one of the extenda type tees and use the fryers regulator and hose.

Hope this helps

No, kinda the opposite. I have one of those fryer burners that I would like to take camping with me from time to time. My Crusader has the gas grill line quick connect in the back that allows me to use the on board propane with the grill that came with it. The fryer has the standard screw on connector like you would use to connect it directly to a propane tank. I would like to find a adapter that would screw into that and then would let me use the quick connect on the back of the 5ver.

For example: 10 ft of 3/8 id hose will carry approx 110,000 BTU at 11"WC RV QD pressure and 1.3 million BTU at 10 psi so length, pressure and load are important.

Maybe maybe not depends on operating pressure of the fryer.

You would probably need this

I would only be using the burner to heat oil to make a batch of FF or fry up venison chunks.

Would something like this work Amazon.com: GrillPro 11051 Universal Fit Propane Tank Adaptor: Patio, Lawn & Garden and then reduce it to a hose connector that will fit the quick connect?

Hooking up camp chef stove to quick connect

If I understand correctly, you're looking for an adaptor to go between where you would normally hook up the tank and your 5's quick connect? And this is to allow you to use the 5's propane instead of getting it from a separate tank?

If I got that all right then, well, it doesn't work...

Between the tank and the BBQ, Fryer, Griddle, Camp stove, whatever is a regulator. Off the propane tanks on the 5er is a regulator. By the time the propane hits the quick connection, it's already regulated. Attempting to pass it through a second regulator (the one between tank hookup and whatever) is going to drop the pressure too much to be able to burn.

That's why all these adaptors that are out there now require you to remove the existing connection from your whatever if you're going to use the quick connect.

Yes you are coorect. OK that makes sense. So I am actually over thinking it. All I really need to do is replace the hose with the regulator on the fryer with is one with no regulator. I would still need some kinda valve at the fryer to control the burner though which wouldn't be hard to do.

Ah, so your valve is at the tank connection? I guess that's why you were looking to save it. In that case maybe check to see if your dealer has a scrap RVQ or Sidekick laying around that you can get your hands on. You might be able to salvage the valve from there and it'll already be ready for the quick connect.

Edit: Another option, a quick Google search for "RV Propane Quick Connect Hose with Valve" pulled up http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...-connect/56292

Look at the spec's for your fryer if it needs 1,2 or whatever psi to burn you will not be able to hook to up to your trailers quick disconnect. I will not burn right. The reason I say this is if it came with an adjustable regulator then more than likely it is high pressure. If it came with a non adjustable regulator make sure it does not have a tag on it that says --psi or the regulator is red if so it might be high pressure. If it has a non adjustable regulator and a adjustment valve for flame height you MIGHT be ok. Read the manual it should tell you.
Good Luck

RickV- are you going to be without power where you will be frying up? Reason I ask is there are electric deep fryers out there- think I bought mine for about $75. Might be an easier setup/teardown.

Good Luck
It says 10psi on the knob so I guess I am SOL.

Yeah we have one. I just like the gas better heats the oil faster plus I will be cooking outside and if it happens to get rained on less damage to the gas one. I will probably end up going with the electric due to fact I can't run it from my quick connect.

To everyone who chimed in
