Limit on amount of LPG?

We are searching for a FW and doing research now. We really like the models that use the standard BBQ 20# tanks instead of the 30# tanks. But it seems that everyone either uses 3 20# tanks or 2 30# tanks. So I assumed there was a law limiting the amount of propane you can carry to 60#. However, I have seen some custom-made FWs that have two 40# tanks.

Some of the models that have 3 20# tanks have a bracket that holds two tanks on one side and another that holds 1 20# tank on the other. I'm wondering why I couldn't pull the single tank bracket and mount another dual tank bracket (providing there was sufficient room). ???

I looked at an Open Range that had four 20#'s they were on a slide out track for easy access.

The Lite has two 30# and I carry a 20# for the grill.
