LP/CO detector high pitched noise

We just picked up our new 2011 Rockwood Roo 23RS (it sat on the lot for 2 years, but really is "new"). The LP/CO detector tests/resets and seems to be functioning fine, but there is a soft, high ptiched noise constantly and it's driving us nuts. It's definitely not the alarm going off, just a soft but anoying noise.

I've done searches and there were some discussions about this and thinking that the detector needed replacing. Has anyone had luck getting a replacement through the warranty? Even though it's a 2011, we still have the warranty.

So if you disconnect battery power the noise stops.
Any when it is on the proppane detector makes a sound but not an alarm.
If this is all correct then yes replace Propane detector monitor.

Should I work with MTI (the makers of Safe-T-Alert detectors) or ForestRiver? I really don't want to have to go through the dealership because they are an hour away. I'm very handy with these kinds of things and my ideal solution would be that someone would just ship me a new one and I can install it myself. Is that a possibility or am I just dreaming in this litigous society.
