My Propane Tanks Sing......
.......and I don't even recognize the song. 
Seriously, if I have a burner on the stove and the oven on, then there is a signing/humming sound radiating near the propane tanks. If the furnace comes on, there is a thumping sound in that area.......like several times a second. I think it is coming from the tanks, but it could be the regulator. Any ideas on how to remendy this situation??

All you need is a guitar, and you can start a band!! Sounds like you are either low on propane, or the regulator is stopping up, and when the furnace comes on, it's trying to relight the burner because of low fuel pressure. The regulator could make a whistling sound when restricted down to a low amount through it. That's my opinion, at least.

Not really but I'll hazard a guess.
Try shutting off first one tank and then the other.
Switch your regulator "main" lever so you are using from each
tank one at a time.
If it does not change, it's not the tank.
As far as the regulator goes, mine makes a small noise but nothing we can
hear inside.
If you're is really bugging you maybe you need a new regulator.
Looks like about $40 plus shipping.
Google RV regulator and you might find them a little cheaper but this place is usually
pretty good on price.

Still have about 10 lbs. of propane in the tank, and it has been doing it since it was full. I will switch tanks to check it out, but I think it did it on the other tank also, which would indicate the regulator......unless both tank valves have the same flaw. I need to isolate the problem, so when I take it back to the dealer for the "just short of 1 year ownership" trip, I can get it done under warranty.

It's your regulator. I've had a few grill regulators that have done that and even a home one or two. It's the diaphragm vibrating. If everything is just right the gas passing by the diaphragm vibrates it setting up a harmonic resonance causing it to sing. It's not really hurting anything but they usually annoy me enough that I'll just go buy a new one.

I took my Surveyor back to the dealer for some warranty work, and asked if he would check out the humming in the propane system. He changed out the regulator, and it still hummed. He changed out both pigtails, and he said that corrected the problem. Seems like there is a check valve in those hoses, and both were apparently faulty.

Hey Chap, That was a new one to me. I've never before heard of a check valve in the pigtails. Live and learn, I guess.

Those check valves are for when you remove one cylinder the gas from the other one doesn't leak out the open line. It's more of a safety precaution in case the regulator doesn't create a positive seal when switched.
