no propane in stove

I finally was able to get my mh out of storage. Since I am going away 4/1, I tried the furnace to make sure it worked. I opened the valve on the propane tank and turned on the leak detector. When I opened the burner on the stove to light it, there was no propane, even though the 2 gauges show 3/4 full. As soon as it gets above freezing I plan to clean out the burners to make sure they are not plugged with insects. But are there any other suggestions? Thanks

I wasn't able to check. it was too cold. I always light the burner first to get the air out of the line.

This issue should most likely be in the Propane systems and not in the model specific section. I see you have duplicated your problem there as well so I will be combining these threads for synergistic purposes.

I think there is some safety feature in the tank valves that kicks in if you open the valves to quickly. The propane will not flow out. Trying opening the valve slowly and see what happens. You should be able to hear the propane flowing from the tank and filling the line...Had this happen to me one time....

You could have a couple of problems.

1) The bottle could be empty (weigh bottle to check amount of gas).

2) The bottle could be too low (COLD weather reduces propane pressure and volume generated); you may have too little left to generate enough pressure to keep the pigtail safety valve open).

3) The pigtail internal safety valve could be closed due opening it too fast and it detected "a leak" as it filled the hoses. CLOSE the bottle valve; wait 2 minutes; select opposite tank if you have a autoregulator; CRACK valve on troublesome bottle VERY SLOWLY open. The initial 1/4 turn should take several seconds to complete; SLOWLY rotate autoregulator to open bottle and check for tall blue flame at range burner. This problem occurs most often on new pigtails and should "go away" over time.

4) The pigtail internal safety valve could be stuck closed due to trash in it (replace pigtail).

The tank is in a motorhome and there is no pigtale. The 2 gauges show 3/4 full. I did open the valve quickly. So I'll try again very slowly. Thanks

So in a motorhome the tanks are not removable? I was not aware of that.
Thank you for letting me know.

Just to be sure, you tank connection does NOT have one of these.

Also find your propane electric solenoid near the tank and by touching it see if it is warm. If not warm then possibly your propane detector is not on or malfunctioning.

I don't have one of these. Thanks for mentioning it Fonzie!

Had same issues in twice in my 5th wheel. First time it was the connecting hose going across the trailer, from driver side to passenger side where the regulator is.

Further to what Herk7769 states is a very common problem. The regulators have a tendency to stick when they get older/and or sit for a long time.

Most of the time with the regulator this is what I do: Turn off propane, release pressure by turning on the stove.... let sit for a minute or so, then turn stove to off position.

Now turn on the gas very, very, very slowly and see if that works. If you hear a strong click or thump you may have to repeat the procedure.

That the regulator sticks is also very common on home BBQ's, happened to me lots with the old BBQ. My daughter inlaw had the same problem just two days ago and the above worked just fine. Good luck.

Motorhome tanks are generally filled while in the vehicle "non- removable"
And in the 100# variety.

I'm betting it's the safety solenoid valve connected to the gas detector.
