Noisy propane regulator
Hi folks. We have a 2010 829FKSS and love it. We did notice something that is annoying, to say the least. When we are using the stove, grill or the water heater is on, the propane regulator makes a humming or chirping sound while there is a demand for propane. When the appliance stops using propane, it shuts up. Anyone else have this problem?

Seems to be a rash of folks complaining of the same thing lately. Must be a bad batch of regulators. I've heard them make noise before but this many at once. You can have your dealer replce it or just buy another one and do it your self. That's about the only real fix for it.

Mine is really noisy as well. I think they are just cheap regulators but I don't know for sure.

Mine used to sing a bit but now it doesn't.
It wasn't loud enough to be a bother inside so we lived
with it and it went away.
My refrigerator used to make a single peep like a little bird
every few seconds when on LP mode.
THAT was annoying but it to seems to have stopped.
I can't guess if yours will get better with age or not!

Any recommendations on a "good" quality regulator would be for dual tanks? Mine chirps very loud and can hear it inside the trailer at night.... very annoying when you go for a walk and your's is the only one you can hear!

KSG, Sorry I don't have a good answer to your question but you would probably be better off if you started a new thread with your question rather than tacking on to a dead one....

Before going to the cost and trouble of replacing the regulator, make sure that is not the check valves in the pigtails (hoses). I took my Surveyor back to the dealer because of a "singing" regulator, but they found that the regulator was OK, but the check valves in both pigtails were faulty. The replaced the hoses, and no more noise.

Singing Propane regulator
Very good piece of information Mtnguy. Thanks! My regulators sang from the very beginning on my trailer since I picked it up in Sept of this year. Doesn't appear to affect anything though....just a little annoying.

You're right - it won't affect anything, but it sure is annoying to everyone including your neighbors if it's loud enough. Marshall Brass makes a fine automatic changeover regulator (it's quiet, too!) if you want to upgrade. Your dealer should be able to fix it under warranty though.

I just had this same problem with my Roo. Turned out to be the pigtails.

Hello Mtnguy,
We too have a "chirping" regulator...and the dealer also changed it out and the same problem resulted.
I will make sure we get the pigtails checked! Great place to start.

Chirping regulator fixed by changing out the pigtails also. Only happened when I was camping and took the dealer two tries to duplicate and fix. It's happy now just in time for me to trade it in.....
