All the propane appliance work but can't get the water heater to light . The camper is new to me. Any suggestions on how to get it lit

On older units you have to turn the red gas control to pilot and press and hold it while you light the pilot. You have to hold it for about a minute until the pilot will stay lit and then turn valve to on.
