Pre piped propane for grill

We have a 2014, bought a Coleman road trip grill and tried hooking into our pre piped propane tank and the grill will not work. Anyone have an answer?

Yes, you grill has a regulator on it, the gas at the hookup is regulated.
So two regulators reduce the gas pressure so low it is not enough to light or if it did it would not produce enough flame to cook with.

I hook a hose from the tree to the Coleman, works just fine.

I had the same issue with my Coleman road trip grill. I did a YouTube search and found a short video on how to fix it. You have to remove the thread on piece from your Coleman regulator unit and thread in a male quick connect adapter. Be sure to use Teflon tape that is approved for propane gas. I'm not good enough on the computer to give you a link to the video (sorry about that) but the hardest part is just unscrewing the end off the regulator. The video explains it all. Good luck!

To use the low pressure outlet on your camper, you will need to remove the regulator on your grill. There are many youtubes videos explaining how to do this.

your Coleman is a high pressure grill, the RV's propane hose is low pressure.
either remove the Coleman's regulator or get a low pressure grill, like Camp Chef.
you may need to adapt the hose to connect to the Coleman.

I did this and it is working great for me:

Bought all the parts on Amazon, including the hose. Be careful and double check the part numbers. I know at least one of his is wrong but I don't remember which one. Removing the regulator from the Coleman was a little tougher than I had imagined but doable. Mine isn't exactly like his because I used a quick disconnect between the Coleman and the hose. Really happy with the final result. A SAFETY NOTE, check your connections for leaks BEFORE your fire up the grill for the first time.

Sorry, a little unfocused but you can get the general idea.

Better view of complete hookup.

Piped Gas

I had tried to use the gas hook through a Flagstaff "A" frame and with the regulators they have on the system, you barely got enough heat to do anything. I gave up on that and just got a Weber 50060001 Q 1000 Liquid Propane Grill, bought a folding stand for it and a small 5 lb tank and it works great. A little slow heating up but gives me all the heat I want. I like a hot grill. Now have a Flagstaff Micro Lite FRBS and don't even bother trying to hook up the supplied grill.

I just recently bought an 08 Flagstaff fifth wheel and it appeared to be set up for the outside grill. When we look for the hose it didn't exist. The dealer told me he would have to run a high pressure line to attach those to because the outside grill requires high pressure. Instead, he gave me a 20 pound bottle and a hose to attach to the grill. See the attached photo.

I actually prefer this because when I use the grill I'm not draining my 30 pound tanks. In my 20 pound tank gets low it's easy to exchange. Not only that I can use the grill anyplace I want such as on the picnic table if I choose. I can also use the tank to hook up my Coleman two burner stove for my want.

The grills regulator has a small bottle gas connector on it. Go ahead and keep that reg and add a female quick connect to it. That way if you want to carry your grill down to the river side for instance you can still use the throw away bottles. Best of both worlds.
