Propane alarm upgrade

Well my propane alarm went off last nite at 3 am while my daughter and friend spent the nite in the driveway so I guess its time to buy a new one. safe-t-alert has a replacement that is the same size but also has a CO alarm also. Is this a good way to go or should I stick with the battery powered CO / carbon monixide alarm mounted on the ceiling. I am a little leary of now having 2 alarms in one considering the old one only lasted a little over a year.Any body with any experiance with a dual alarm ? Just trying to keep the family safe . Thank You Mike

Did not look close enough, ceiling detector is for smoke and carbon monixide so CO might be a good thing ?

Propane gas is heavier than air so the alarm will be low, typically near the stove/oven. Smoke/CO will be on the ceiling.

Are you sure it wasn't doing its job? Smoke detectors and such normally last about 5 years.

No smell of propane any where. Unit specs also say it will test for methane besides propane. I check everywhere with a high end gas detector and no hits. I even stuck it in the toilet. In a previous post people spoke of having the same problem and being cured once they replaced the unit. When it went off on me at Quartzsite we were running the refrig and the heater, when it went off on my daughter she was not running anything. I wonder why they would combine a propane and a CO alarm together If one gas is heavy and one light. Carbon monoxide is heavy and my alarm is on the ceiling combined with the smoke detector and if I put a co detector down low this all does not make sense.Guess I'll sleep with all the windows open LOL Mike

The propane dector in my 2012 V-Cross 275 fiver just went off in the middle of the night and the only way to turn it off was to pull the fuse. The propane was turned off at the tanks so I felt that it was a false alarm. When I spoke to the service department at the dealer that I bought the fiver from they told me that was not unsual for then to last one or two years. I will order a new one and install it myself.
Good Luck

Thanks for the info guys, I guess I'll order a combo alarm and it does mount low so that should be ok.I figure this alarm is 18 months old and my trailer is plugged in 24-7 so I guess its wore out. Mike
