Propane detector

Is there a way to shut the propane detector off when the RV is not in use to keep it from draining the battery?

Most people install a battery disconnect and kill battery power to all parasitic loads (radio leeches some, other detectors, etc.).

I ordered one off of eBay and my father-in-law and I installed it (I don't do any electrical stuff alone). Pretty easy, though. He was gimped up from shoulder surgery, so I did all of the work with his guidance.

No way to turn just the propane detector off. That would defeat it's purpose and could be deadly. Battery disconnect switch is the only option.

Actually, our Gergetown has a switch on the detector. It also turns off the gas. Convenient for fuel stops but not for the ferriy.

I had to install a battery disconnect on my trailer did not come with one. I purchased it from west marine and bought a 3 ft battery lead from auto zone took about a hour to do.

does anyone know how to disconnect the Propane detector? Mine was acting up, I had it plugged into a shore line, as well as a fully charged battery. The lights were blinking Red, Red, Green, Green. The front panel had that description as being a bad detector. I couldn't figure out how to get it disconnected from the panel, so I just cut the wires.
