Propane issue with 2009 Rockwood 8285 WS

Hello

This is my first time on this forum and our first time owing a rv. I have two 30 lb propane tanks connected to a regulator. I believe I have a problem with the regulator. What is happening is that when the tank on the opposite side of the trailer to the regulator is opened and regulator is set to that tank I get a red indication showing that the tank is empty when the tank is actual full. If I switch the indicator to the other tank, the indicator goes green and I have propane inside the trailer.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

Look closely at the regulator control knob. It should have a small arrow pointing to the active tank. You are supposed to be able to open both tanks, and it will use out of the active one until it runs empty, then automatically switch to the other tank. It will give you the red flag when it switches to tell you to 1. Switch the regulator, then 2. remove the empty tank and have it filled. Reinstall the now full tank but leave the regulator alone until you see the red flag again. Then do the same procedure. This will keep all appliances running. Look closely at the regulator and to which tank it is pointing, it may not be the long end, like you think. Also close both tanks when on storage.
