Look closely at the regulator control knob. It should have a small arrow pointing to the active tank. You are supposed to be able to open both tanks, and it will use out of the active one until it runs empty, then automatically switch to the other tank. It will give you the red flag when it switches to tell you to 1. Switch the regulator, then 2. remove the empty tank and have it filled. Reinstall the now full tank but leave the regulator alone until you see the red flag again. Then do the same procedure. This will keep all appliances running. Look closely at the regulator and to which tank it is pointing, it may not be the long end, like you think. Also close both tanks when on storage.
