Propane Leak Detector & Valve theory....

I'm still trying to figure out the basics of my new Propane Detector and how it is hooked up to my gas line and shut off valve.

I do know that it runs off of the 12Volt battery.
I know if it goes off it actives a relay which shuts off the valve and all propane.

My questions are..
1. Where in the Rockwood is the relay/valve.

2. How does the relay work?
Normally Conditions valve stays open by itself or must it need constant 12vdc?

In Alarm Condition does it send a continues 12VDC or is it reversing polarity or what?

I was told that the only way to open the valve is by the detector in a normal conditions.

Inquiring minds would like to know.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Mike for the information.
Is the relay behind the detector or someplace else in the rig?
I just wanted to know so if something went wrong I would know in advance.

Thanks

John,
From what I gather, the relay is behind or inside the detector.
The solenoid valve should be outside, along the gas line.
