Propane regulator issue

Ok. This is weird. And although it might just be " regulator freeze". I'm just not sure and it has never happened to me before. Camping with the ami.y this weekend in Old Forge, Ny. Friday night got pretty cold, down to 28 degrees. Now we were here last weekend and just left he camper here all week. When I came back, I brought a full 30lb cylinder with me, as we exhausted one the week before and I wanted to have to full ones with the weather being cold. So when we got here I hooked up the full cylinder, and that became my reserve cylinder, since I already switched over to the other cylinder the prior weekend. The regulator indicator showed green, once I turned on my new reserve cylinder, in turned red, even though the service cylinder has 3/4 full. I tried switching the regulator over and the indicator still showed red. My heater was running so I didn't think anything of it...as the night progressed and it got colder, ,the inside was not really getting any heat, and he air from the heater was cool...not hot...went achecked t

Not sure why I had to split this post up...but continuing...went outside and checked the regulator and I didn't hear any propane moving and the indicator was still red...went back in and lit all the burners on the stove and hardly go any flame...then it was normal, then the flame went down again, then was normal. The heater kicked off and ailed to relight....I lit the burners again, this time I got full flame. I went out and checked the regulator and he indicator was back to Greenland I head the propane flow..
Heater has worked fine since and everything else has also....so what was this? Any thoughts...I have camped through freezing temps in mid winter before and never had anything like this happen ever...so I'm curious.

We had something similar happen after replacing the regulator. The rv tech said that it was an air lock in the lines. Our regulator was doing the same things as yours before we replaced it. Might be a good idea to have a regulator on hand. Stay warm.

Had the same problem after my first switch over to the second tank. After refilling the first tank and eventually switching back........same problems. Ended getting a new complete regulator and pigtail assembly from PT and, problems solved. ,

Well I will be telling the dealer then and let them replace it under warrantee ..

Open valves SLOWLY to prevent the new safety valve from closing.
Turn off and wait 3-5 minutes; then CRACK the valve VERY slowly. It will fill and pressurize the lines over about a minute of opening time. If your valve is sensitive it will shut off the propane automatically on a full cylinder even with the valve manually open.

I'm camping near Cortland NY and had this same thing happen to me over the weekend. I was on a supposedly full tank of propane and my stove wouldn't work right. The flames got lower and lower. Next thing, my furnace wouldn't light. I had a Starcraft Antigua hybrid before this and camped in 26 degree weather with NO propane issues. I'm also having an issue with the hot water heater. It's throwing black soot up the side of the trailer. In order to get through a windy, freezing drizzle night I took the cover off the propane tanks and wrapped them with an emergency "space" blanket. I switched to the other tank and it worked fine. A friend suggested maybe it was a problem with the tank itself, but my money is on the regulator. Gauge was showing red, but when I took the tank in the next day, it was only down 1 gal of propane, so I didn't run out of fuel.

i never got down to the bottome of my issue. My unit is going back to Prime Time as we speak for a different issue, but along with it was a list of items the dealer was going to take care of, and now I have been informed they will all be handled by the factory, so I am hoping I will find out what the issue was. I have camped in similar weather with all my other campers and never had an issue..interesting
