propane tank bracket
pulled tanks today to ck them,plate that the tanks set on was very rusty. removed plate and frame also rusty , might want to ck and see this tt is only 1 year old

What trailer do you have?
You must live in a snowy area where the roads are salted heavily.
I inspect my stuff when I wash my trailer and when I remove the tanks to get them filled.

Don't think so, North Carolina.
The bracket was probably loose or the bottles loose and rubbed the powdercoating off the bracket and paint off the frame. Remove the rust, repaint, put a thin rubber pad under the bracket and install more screws into the bracket/frame.

how do you know he doesnt live in a heavily salted area?
they do salt the roads in North Carolina to I think  -
I guess living in Florida has put me out of reality when it comes to snow and salting the roads
metal on metal friction could cause it - but without pictures cant see how bad it is

His profile says NC and it is rare to have the roads salted when most folks in NC are towing campers. Only snowbirds from the rust belt have to tow campers on salted roads.

Mine was the same way. When I took the plate off the frame it still had the metal pieces between the frame and the plate where they drilled the holes to mount it. So that is what started the rust.

its a fr salem, ultra lite. i sanded it real good , painted it with a good primer, then sprayed it with truck bed liner, should hold real good . yes we get lots of salt on the roads in the winter , but never towed in the salt

How many screws are holding it to the frame? I would make sure there are at least 4 or more. I found out years ago that 2 or 3 just don't keep the bracket tight to the frame

I'm on my fourth new trailer and that's one of the first things I do ,remove both tanks and repaint with a good quality rust inhibitor paint, when I did it this year to my new surveyor I noticed the propane tanks are made in China now too,hope they are better than the tires.
