Propane valve

All you guru’s of the gas I have a question. My 2016 Prime Time Crusader 296BHS has two 30LB Propane bottles like most 5th wheels have nothing to earth shattering about this. Now for the past year when we get ready for a trip I turn on both bottles since I have an automatic switch over can’t hurt ( or can it?), either way this time when I turned both one I could smell a propane leak. I isolated it the left side bottle (nose out toward the pit box). The leak was located at a red regulator valve, small hole under the valve is just letting gas escape. I presume it’s a regulator valve because it says 30LBS at the bottom. Now do these get stuck? Better to replace or fix? Not sure how you would fix this.

When it comes to propane, I don't wait. If it is under warranty, get the dealer (or repair place) fix it, or you can you can do it yourself. They aren't that expensive (likely less than the copay, if under extended service plan) and are easy to replace. In the meantime, I wouldn't use the propane on that side.

If you do it yourself, there are plenty of videos online and you can also ask a propane dealer how to do it.

Yeah it looks easy enough to replace it's right near the fitting it's pretty easy I would think I just wasn't sure if you could repair the valve. I may hit up a Camping World to see if they have them in stock and just replace it I like to have the use of both propane bottles. I'm out of warranty but it looks minor

Need to replace regulator, inside diaphragm is damaged and letting propane escape.

I agree, I've done these before and it is very easy. Make sure you get the correct thread tape (yellow) for propane.

If they don't, remove the one you have and take it to a propane store. They should be able to hook you up with a suitable replacement.

Camping World was a waste of time they had nothing to speak of. Trying to find the Gas-Flo GR-630 regulator cannot seem to locate one. On a campaign trip now hope the other side holds out.

You can always unhook and exchange tanks from side to side to get you through your 'campaign' trip should the good side run out.

Yes that's what I’ve been doing so far. We are on a 30-day trip so I know that murphy's law will strike because if it wasn't for bad luck I’d have no luck at all. Ordered two valves & having them shipped to the campsite office since we are here for seven days.

The red regulator is used to drop the high pressure from the driver side tank before the rubber cross camper hose to the automatic switchover regulator on the passenger side. This is a safety requirement in the event of an accident that severs the cross camper hose; or so I have been told).

I was just going to bypass mine when it leaked and was told to replace it instead for that reason. Just be sure to use the yellow (gas rated) Teflon tape and soap the joints well when you pressure test it.
