Questions Re: Propane Tank Longevity and Exchange

Hello to All:

I recently replaced both of my 20-lb. propane tanks and I have the dual regulator where when one tank is empty, it will automatically rollover and begin using the other tank.

Two questions for the group:

1) Assuming continuous use to keep the refrigerator running as well as occasionally the hot water heater, how long would one 20-lb propane tank be expected to last until empty?

2) When tank #1 is empty (per the above scenario), moving the lever over to the tank #2 will allow for removal of tank #1 for replacing, but it will maintain a steady propane stream and not allow propane to escape from tank #1's connection, correct?

Sorry, these may be obvious questions that I should know the answers to, but....I'm curious as to what other's think.

Thanks in advance for any help and advice!

We leave our Propane "ON" the entire season, this supplies our Refer when Not plugged into Shore Power! We also cook with Propane and Use the Furnace for "BRIEF Preheat" while the Elect.Heaters take over! We Don't use "30#" the Entire Season! We are on the Road over 100 Days! Only 1 Tank on at a Time!
