I have had squirrels in the yard eat through the hoses on the gas grills. I went to lowes and bought some metal wrap and wound it around the hose. Been on 2 years now with the same hose.

It may not come first to mind, but a lot of the wildlife "gnawing" that goes on is our own fault. It's good practice to wash your hands before handling exterior fixtures, or at least giving them a bleach spray or good wipe down as part of your dinner tear down.

If you think about it... you're spending an hour over the grill carefully tending your supper.. brushing all kinds of luscious concoctions that will make the most stalwart mouth water. THEN.. you take those hands and run them down your LP lines and valve to kill the grill... depositing tantalizing remnants that will make any gnawing rodent weak in the knees.

Just sayin...

Thanks for the responses. I know it is not possums. Plenty of squirrels were we live. Does anyone have an idea of the male end size for the LP hose from the regulator to the first junction area under the trailer ? Thanks

Opossums also help keep ticks down (stop reading here if you get creeped out easily). They tend to be "tick magnets" but also groom compulsively and "eliminate" the ticks, so after the opossums are in an area awhile, the tick population goes down radically. Just another service our little marsupial friends provide!

Have to disagree. We have possum and now armadillo that have moved up to Missouri. We have poisonous snakes -- being copperheads, that meander into our yard with possum present. And the armadillos make huge holes and tunnels. Possum smell like skunk and hiss, too. YUCK!!!

I bet you could call a propane supply company and they could tell you what size the fitting is.

Invited for dinner

Comming from an old Ruthianian family, it is our tradition to invite any mildly sizeable furry animal, which anounces itself by chewing on our Sunseeker, for dinner or lunch. While any one of them might not amount to much, there are many great ways to stew several furry animals together. Don't forget to use that propane to cook them with, and mind the small bones. Bon Appetit.
