Suburban Water Heater SW6P
Six-gallon, manual-light pilot, water heater in my older Flagstaff is only semi-reliable, so I am investigating why.
I have thought about just replacing the pilot / thermocouple assembly, but when I start to look, I find mine isn't like all the others seem to be.
My thermocouple is at the lower part of the assembly, with the pilot and flame spreader above. The flame spreader spreads downward onto the thermocouple.
Looking at new units, the parts are oppositely-assembled, like below:
Since I have an older trailer, I'm thinking that at one time the supplied assembly was different, since the bracket itself can't be installed upside-down.
Has anyone else encountered this before, or did some bozo actually reverse positions on this one?
