Here's something to read . Myself I don't travel with it on, because of the explosion issue when involved in an accident, plus if you go through tunnels or other areas its not allowed you have to get out and shut it off. I freeze a plastic milk jug full of water and put one in the freezer and one in fridge for long trips. If we stop for lunch will turn it on propane while we are stopped. Lots have traveled with it on while traveling and had no problems but I have seen one burning on the side of the road because of this. If we are on a real long trip we go shopping when we get to our destination.
Be careful Mark. If it wasn't seen or reported on the news, it's impossible.

Depends on how far I am traveling. If it is under 3-4 hours, I leave the gas off and just run the fridge at home before leaving. If over that then I run with gas on and fridge in auto. Worked well for us on our Niagra/Vermont trip last year.
