Another one here who travels with propane/fridge on. No problems.

According to our POLL- 78% travel with it on.

I know in hot weather mine will start to get seriously warm inside in 4 hours. I'm real fond of a cold brewski to celebrate a safe arrival so we
run with it on.

Traveling with Propane RV Fire Safety RV Travel
Here's something to read . Myself I don't travel with it on, because of the explosion issue when involved in an accident, plus if you go through tunnels or other areas its not allowed you have to get out and shut it off. I freeze a plastic milk jug full of water and put one in the freezer and one in fridge for long trips. If we stop for lunch will turn it on propane while we are stopped. Lots have traveled with it on while traveling and had no problems but I have seen one burning on the side of the road because of this. If we are on a real long trip we go shopping when we get to our destination.

And you know for a fact that this was the actual cause of the fire?

Flames were coming out of refrigerators outside compartment and were fueled by propane, had an appearance of a flame like a propane torch, not a fire marshal though I can't say definitely, but best guess it was fueling the fire. Everyone has choices hope all make the one that suits them and have no incidents, I just don't see the necessity to do this.

My 2-way refrigerator is set to 'Auto' and on shore power while we're packing for a trip. The last thing we do before leaving is unhook from shore power. Until we plug in to shore power at our campsite, the fridge runs on propane as it has the urge.

What, me worry?

It doesn't matter if the fridge was on or off there is still a propane line in that compartment ! No ?

I turn the fridge on 1 day before a camping trip and I turn it off once we get home after we're done camping and the fridge is empty.

People seem to over think too much or are just overly paranoid.

In our last trailer I installed an inverter. When we ran from NY to Florida I ran the refrigerator on electric off the inverter. As we drove, the vehicle kept the batteries charged. And when we pulled over for the night I switched over to propane. It allowed us to keep the propane tanks closed while traveling and solved our safety problem.

Be careful Mark. If it wasn't seen or reported on the news, it's impossible.

Depends on how far I am traveling. If it is under 3-4 hours, I leave the gas off and just run the fridge at home before leaving. If over that then I run with gas on and fridge in auto. Worked well for us on our Niagra/Vermont trip last year.
