weber Q100 valve came out?

Had the Weber Q100 valve get stuck in a Colman green bottle. I took the bottle off to store the grill while packing to go home. It was a new bottle used for just one meal. Question is how does the valve stay in the regulator assembly? Can I just put it back in or do I need to replace the regulator assembly? Does this happen often? Could the Green bottle be too tight on the neck of the valve? Getting a 5 lb bottle after that scare is looking better and better.
