Wood chip in flare fitting for appliance!

If you are having LP issues with any of your appliances, you may want to examine the interior of the flare fitting. This is what I found inside the flare to my Dometic refrigerator line in my 2015 Freedom Express 246RKS today. I presume it has been there since the trailer was made as the original polyurethane sealant was on the rubber LP line.

Cleanup during the MFG stage has never been something the factories excel at.

Yep, I don't think any regular visitor here is going to be surprised which is sad that's the state of affairs.

This sort of thing isn’t uncommon for any type of construction — new, old, house, condo, commercial and RVs. It happens. There’s not much that can be done to keep the occasional foreign object from getting into a pipe during construction every now and then. It doesn’t matter how clean you try to keep a workspace — it happens.

I remember my parents house. Had basement floods for years every time it rained hard. A plumber eventually snaked the line from the gutter entry (before that was outlawed) and pushed out a 6" piece of 1x2. No more floods.

Yup! I run across this sort of thing all of the time. I will remove construction debris from customers’ water pipes and drains that have been there for years/decades. This is not really in the same realm, but just this past Friday, I fixed a leak on an old cast bronze 1/2” 90 where both sides of it were never soldered when the house was built in 1958.

When we had our house built there was wood debris that came out of every fixture. Would have probably never known except the flow reduction in the faucets caught it.

Similar thing here. 3 months after our current house was finished the toilet in the Master Bathroom quit filling, ONLY fixture to do so.

The plumber found sand in the angle stop. Had to have gotten in there when the plumber who put the lines in before the slab was poured let sand get in them.

He isn't in business BTW, mine wasn't the only house he screwed things up in.

You'd be surprised at the stuff pulled from water and drain lines in building construction. Sometimes right away sometimes discovered years later when a problem occurs... wood chips, metal and screws, screwdrivers, a wrench, soda cans, trash, dirt, stones.

Yup we bought a house from my wife’s grandmother built in 1959, slow drain in bath vanity,
Took 1 1/2 galv trap apart below and found an old pair of pliers half gone from rust!!

I've been extremely surprised watching my oldest sons new house being built these last few months. The builder has signs all over the interior instructing all contractors to clean up "DAILY" before leaving the job site. Son goes in almost daily and I've been with him a couple times and I've looked in the new plumbing, electrical, HVAC and I've been amazed by the lack of debris in any of mechanical systems in the construction phase...really amazed.
