Winterizing City Water Connection

I got a tip from a co-worker with a 5th wheel that I had never heard before. He told me that a guy next to him at a campground had to replace a section of water pipe to his city water connection because it cracked even when the unit was winterized.

Apparently, if you remove the screen in the city water connection there is a one way valve just behind it. He told me to push the "button" and water would shoot out. Sure enough, I took out the screen and pushed the "button" and three or four inches of water shot out before I got any antifreeze.

I don't know if it would have frozen, but now I don't have to worry about it! It was very easy to check.

Part of my winterization is either draining or blowing out that section of pipe.
It's typically not involved in a normal pump in antifreeze type winterization.
As you learned you have to specifically target it.

Normally if you have faucets open and low point drains open and push the check valve
as you mentioned it will drain empty without squirting at you.
