13' high roofs?
For those of you that have 13' high roofs, what is your plan to get up there on them for maintanence/inspection? My 315 toy hauler does not have a ladder.

Thats 17' when used as an extension ladder right? I have handicap issues and need something sturdier and I dont want to lay a ladder up against the side of the trailer.A 16' a frame or step ladder would work but those are real$.

I understand.
Only other way would be to build or buy some scaffolding to place on one side or the back but that will get spendy quickly.

Unless there's a known problem it may be beneficial to have a qualified technician clean and inspect the roof once a year. If needed any sealing or repairs could be done at that time. Just a thought. Also would leave more time for .

Trbomax, experience/advice from the retired owner of seamless gutter and garage door companies(me) do not go near a step ladder that is over 10' tall...On ground that is not perfectly level they are begging to twist and tumble. There is nothing stable about them and the transition from ladder to another surface, and/or back, is asking for disaster. Wrap the sides of an extension ladder with a cloth where it will contact your rig (with duct tape to hold in place), make sure the ladder is 3-4 feet above the top of the rig, and climb up or down with the confidence that your step onto the roof and back to the ladder will be safe.
Best regards.
Max

Unfortuneatly,I havent seen many "qualified technitions",most of them just smear some silicone around and tell you its good. They know that if you dont go up there to look at it you will just believe what they tell you. The other thing is that I am anal beyond belief about this stuff, but never had a 13' roof.I guess the 16' ladder, maybe with wings at the top is the way,but its gonna be a tough climb anymore for me!Ive got several sections of scaffold, but I still would have to get to the top deck of it and I dont climb like a monkey anymore.

For a quick inspection, do you have a camera that takes videos? I sometimes use my GoPro attached on the end of a pole. I move it around slowly then when done I look at the video, I can zoom in for a closer examination with the computer. If needed I can then lean a ladder up against my unit in the area I want to take a better look at, without getting up on the roof.

One thing you might try if it is just for inspection purposes is to park next to something like a stairway to a second floor...then inspect the roof from above...binoculars let you really get up close. If you need to get on the roof, I agree that an extension ladder is the only way to go. I have one like FordIdaho's but from Harbor Freight that they sell for $119 regularly and is handy both as step and extension ladder.

You laugh, but I have seriously considered a quadcopter drone for just this purpose, as well as roof and gutter inspection on my house. Now if I can just convince the CFO that it can be classified as a "maintenance expense"...
